Brentford Takes Historic Victory, Beats Liverpool For The First Time

Brentford clinched a shock 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League at the Community Stadium on Tuesday (3/1) in the morning, beating the Reds for the first time since 1938.

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate scored an 'own goal' in the 19th minute. At the same time, Yoane Wissa doubled Brentford's lead before halftime after his side had two goals ruled out following a VAR review in a frantic opening 45 minutes.

Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain pulled one back for Liverpool shortly after the break, but Bryan Mbeumo scored a third for Brentford, who recorded a historic victory.

The achievement of these three points brought Brentford up to a seventh place with 26 points, four adrift of the European zone. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp troops are in sixth place with 28 points.

Brentford wins added to a shock 4-0 win at home to Manchester United in August and a 2-1 win over defending champions Manchester City in November.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is the eighth player to score in his 100th Premier League appearance for Liverpool and the first since Mohamed Salah in March 2020. Brentford will host Bournemouth in their next game, while Liverpool travels to Brighton.
