Real Betis vs Barcelona: Win on Penalties, El Barca Advances to the Final

Barcelona successfully advanced to 2022/2023 Spanish Super Cup final. In the semifinal match at the King Fahd International Stadium, Barca won 2-2 (2-4 penalties) over Real Betis.

Barcelona took the lead through Robert Lewandowski goal in the first half. Nabil Fekir scored in the second half to bring things even.

Barca retook the lead through Ansu Fati goal in extra time, but then Loren Moron equalised. A penalty shootout must also determine the winner.

In the penalty shootout, Ter Stegen appeared extraordinary by countering the executions of Juanmi and William Carvalho. Barça also won 4-2.

With this result, Barca has the right to qualify for the final to challenge eternal rival Real Madrid.

First Round

Barcelona dominated the game early in the first half. Pedri also scored a goal in the 23rd minute. However, VAR annulled this goal because Pedri was already in an offside position.

Barcelona finally managed to score in the 40th minute through Lewandowski's goal. Receiving Ousmane Dembele pass, Lewandowski beat Claudio Bravo with his second shot.

Second Round

Back from the locker room, Barcelona still controlled the game. Unfortunately, Lewandowski's golden opportunity at the start of the second half failed to produce results.

The tempo of Barcelona game began to decrease. Betis used this to play more aggressively. As a result, Fekir managed to equalise in the 77th minute.

Four minutes later, Lewandowski scored. Unfortunately, VAR again annulled it because Ferran Torres had been offside in Barcelona's attack.

The two teams had no other goals in the remaining average time. A 1-1 draw meant the game had to go into extra time.

Extra Time and Penalty

After just three minutes of extra time, Barcelona successfully retook the lead through Ansu Fati spectacular goal. Taking advantage of the rebound, Fati fired a first-time volley at the far post without being able to reach Bravo.

Betis do not want to give up so easily. Loren Moron managed to equalise the score to 2-2 in the 101st minute. Receiving the ball in front of Barca goal, Loren cleverly did a backheel to trick Ter Stegen.

Even though several opportunities were obtained, no other goals were created in the remaining extra time. The winner of this match must also be determined via a penalty shootout.
